Fun Find Drop #1

DSC01003

Well we did it.  We made our first project "fun find" drop.  Now we just sit and wait...and try to get some work done in between.  I am just hoping some by-the-book-h-o-a-enforcer doesn't snag it and email us with some violation mumbo jumbo.  We shall see.  As soon as I hear from the "finder keeper" I will post their comments.

P.S. In my excitement I grabbed the wrong bag and the drop number read #002.  It should have read drop #001.  Have shared that I can be a little spazstick.  Well, here is a perfect example.

bink & boo go global.

Baby shoes BOHEMIAN BABY 1a

Okay, well not really, but sort of.  We googled our name the other day and found this.  Gosh, I hope she likes us.  Does anyone know what it says?  My aunt speaks Swedish, maybe she can help.

It was exciting to see that someone has featured our work...even if it was outside our corner or the country.  Hmmm, maybe would change our lil' saying, we hope our goods brighten your day and bring an extra little ray of sunshine to your corner of the country world.  Now if we could just get some press in the U.S.

July Goals

Modish Biztips

Just what I needed.  I was thrilled to come across this post over at Modish Biz Tips about a monthly goal meetup.  This will help me hold myself accountable...I hope.

All I have to do is post my goals on my blog, and then share the link over at Modish Biz Tips and then report back the first Friday of the following month.  I think that's what I do.  Good gosh Wickers get it together!

Well let me just dive in and see if I get this right.  Wanna join me?  Click here to read instructions (let me know if I got it right) and we can see how we did next month.

Soooooo here it goes.

July Goals
1. Better understand how to use Facebook  and my blog to strengthen client relations and business.
2. Begin "Project Fun Find" and do at least 3 drops.
3. Make contact with Daily Candy to be featured
4. Reach out to other bloggers (at least 3) and ask for product reviews.
5. Make at least 3 wholesale orders/sales

Seattle Thrift Trip

The g-rents

SCORE!  Our Seattle triop was a total success.  We got to see family and friends, and we scored on fab-fabs (fabulous fabrics) from estate sales, and our fave thrift stores (Value Village).  I just added a couple of new booties to our Etsy shop today with some of the fabrics that we found in Oly.  There is much more to come.

I was so excited for Bronson to finally meet his G-pa (pictured above).  It was love at first sight...for both.  Of course my mother didn't want to share him with my dad and they fought about who would hold him next.  I have to say I think Bronson recognized his g-ma right away.  When he saw her he had a big smile on his face and he giggled as she picked him up.  That' warms my heart.

Bronson was sooo good on the plane...I was nervous.  I am not sure how I got so lucky but I have a great baby.

Inspired

Toy society

We are so thrilled about a new marketing idea.  We wish we could have thunk it up on our own, but we ain't that smart.

We were Inspired by a blog post on blinking flights about The Toy Society.  The Toy Society spreads love throughout the world by dropping handmade toys for unsuspecting peeps to find...and keep.  How cute!  Well we don't make toys, so we can't join, but that's not gonna stop us.  We are going to be dropping our bandito bibs and maybe even some of our booties!

We will be posting updates of our drops along with info from the lucky "finder keeper"- when they found it, where they found it, and what they thought...when they found it.  Sounds fun, huh?  We think so.  We will see how it goes.

Today I am...

Michaeljackson-offthewall

Sewing and sobbing - these two things do not go together, but I had to catch up on some projects and I couldn't miss the funeral of Michael Jackson.  I set up shop in my office and I am lucky that I didn't sew my fingers together.

Michael's funeral was very touching especially at the end when his brothers spoke and then of course his daughter Paris (that was the cherry on my sob sunday).  I pray for peace in his family.  I am not a fan of Rev. Al Sharpton, but I did like when he told the children their father wasn't weird, but it was the circumstances that he had to deal with that were (or something like that).  I just thought that was very appropriate, kind, and in many ways true.

Now I am listening to Michael's music on Pandora, and as the saying goes life must go on.  So...I just finished some baby booties with fabric from my thrift trip to Seattle.  I will have to blog more on that later. I have new items to add to both my site and my Etsy store - baby bibs, baby booties, and pacifier clips.  So much to do and so little time.

baby fat

Capitol lake

I wish I could title this baby "phat", but I am no where near Pretty Hot and Tempting.  I just came back from my first run in over a year.  Bed rest really takes a toll on the body.  It felt so good to be out there on the road again...until I realized just how jiggly my jiggly bits had become.  It took me 15 mins to run a mile and a half.  Good grief.  Getting in shape stinks.  Hopefully with baby #2 I won't let myself get out of shape.  To be fair I was on bed rest from very early on in my pregnancy and it continued even after the birth of Bronson.

I can't complain about the amazing view, had a good run around around Capitol Lake and it was beautiful today (75 degrees).  I am glad that I started my workout routine in a city where no one knows me.  Hopefully by the time I get back home I can reduce the jiggling to just a little jig.

I wish I could stay in the Pacific Northwest for a little longer.  The people here don't seem to be as image conscious as back home (good ol' SoCal).  Specifically Oly (Olympia), there are a load of hippies and they love all not matter how big...or small.  I would stay longer, but I can't stand the stench of patchouli much longer.

It feels good to workout while on a business trip, but I can't wait to get home and run again on the 101.  Hmmm, maybe I will start training for a marathon...uh, rather a half marathon.

How dare she!

Bib_baby ducks 2

Day three in Seattle (actually Olympia) and my mother (a.k.a. G-ma) just shared with me that she has more of the duck fabric.  She was holding out on me!  How dare she!  At first I thought she just had an extra panel that she was holding onto, but there are several panels (vintage curtains).  I'll forgive her this time.

Today we are headed to a few different farmer's markets with a couple stops at some Value Village's along the way.  I can't wait for Friday...the start of yard sale, garage sale, and estate sale madness!

We did it!

Alaska-wifi

Yesterday was my first time traveling with baby...ALONE.  Prior to having Bronson I would just cringe at the site of a baby/child on my flight.  Doesn't everyone though?

Well I am very happy to report that Bronson was wonderful.  We had one slight moment of fussiness and then he fell asleep.  I can't say the same for the other tots who were screaming and throwing fits (I cringed when I saw them get on the plane).  I just hope he is just as good on the way home.

Wondering where we are?  We are in the Pacific Northwest for a Thrift Trip!

T.T.F.N.  (I am off to Value Village today.)

check us out...

Image and video hosting by TinyPic...on Spearmintbaby.com!  I was scrolling through Google Reader yesterday when LO AND BEHOLD right before my very eyes were a pair of bink & boo booties and a bandito bib.

Shari of Spearmint baby was so kind to post about us on her blog, which by the way is loaded with fresh finds for baby.  Be sure to go over and check it out!  Don't have a baby?  Well she and her husband also have Spearmint Decor- for fresh decor ideas.

Thanks for the rave review Shari!

very exciting

Baby mabel's logo

bink & booTM can now be found at Mabel's in the Carlsbad Forum.  We have long been a fan of Mabel's so to see our goods featured in Baby Mabel's just makes our day.  Cheers to success Mabel's!

Baby booties Paisly Boy 1a

These baby booties went to a good home. . .at least I think they did. I get so excited that I might one day see our creations again.  I would just scream if I saw someone walking down the street and their baby was sporting bink & boo.  I can't wait for that day.

. . . . . .

Vera Neumann has never, and will never, let me down. Her talent was endless. The complementing clash of paisley and polka dots...who'd a thunk it? When I wear paisley and polka dots together they never look this regal.

Speaking of regal, this scarf kind of reminds me of something Larry, yes Larry, would wear down to the Regal Beagle.

bink & booTM booties are lined with a super soft minky fabric meant to be gentle on bare feet. That's right no socks, why bother if you don't have to. Our booties are a comfortable fit for baby and stay safely and snuggly secure on their tiny feet. Of course if you want to wear socks with our booties you can, but it's kind of like wearing socks with sandals....

Lewa's Design

So I came across this offer a while back and I am just getting around to sharing it with you today.  Hey, it's not like I have been sitting around eating bon bons and watching novelas all day.  I have been a touch busy.

Isn't this wall decal just the cutest!  This is just one of a handful of fun and lighthearted decals that is offered by Lewa's Design.  Check out her etsy shop to see the others including laptop decals.

And...

Baby shoes_honeycomb 1a

...were back, with more baby shoes and bibs!

Wowee did we have some catching up, and creating to do.  Things really took off for us and we couldn't be more thrilled.  We have a lot of exciting projects in the works and I can't wait to share them.  I don't want to jinx anything so mums the word until finalized.  I can however tell you that we are now at Mabel's in the Carlsbad Forum.

I want to thank everyone for their support and their prayers.  Even though we have been busy getting things off the ground, and we have been doing well, we have so far to go.  I thank God for the talents that he has given me and I hope that I use them to bring an extra ray of sunshine to this world.  I know what your thinking, "you just make baby accessories."  I know, I know but as we grow and the bink & boo family grows we are able to help change lives and give hope.  Okay, enough with the mushy, let's rock and roll!

Oh, quick question.  Does anyone else have multiple names for their little one?  Baby boo, love bug, love barnacle, tid-bit, itty bitty, lil' amigo, those are just a few of the names that I call Bronson.  Is that weird?

oh baby!

Kerchief bib fabric

Did we get off to a quick start or what? With some new vintage finds we are currently creating our next line of goods.  Stay tuned to see what we make with these fabrics.

Thanks for your support!
